Terracotta incorporates the value of double firing: an initial firing to eliminate impurities and a second firing to fix the glaze, improving both durability and quality. Fine crazing is a natural characteristic of the material when exposed to temperature changes.
It retains its natural porosity, allowing it to expand and contract without breaking, particularly over direct heat, preventing stress and adapting to thermal changes. This porosity also helps absorb part of the fats released during cooking. In addition, it distributes heat evenly and retains it for longer, improving cooking performance and preserving flavours without altering them.
